This is a set of Ottoman, gold plated tombak ornaments for a horse carriage. Including several Alam finals.
Also in the set is a large pair of leaf shaped belt buckles (31 cm each). They are decorated with botanical forms with a crescent moon in the centre of each side.
Gold-plated (tombak) works are rare, because the gold plating technique was highly toxic. Working with arsenic and mercury meant the artist would seldom live longer than 10 years. The plating masters were therefore mostly selected from Ottoman prisons.
