This is a wonderfully handcrafted 11th to 12th century AH (Ca. 17th to 18th century AD) plate. The circular form has a flat base and flaring rim and is adorned with an intricate calligraphic blessing or poem. It forms a testament to the significance of written language in Islamic/Persian culture. The well of the plate is equally remarkable, featuring beautiful zoomorphic decorations of various animals in motion, running around a vibrant floral background. Animal depictions have been a common feature in Islamic art, often symbolizing various concepts such as power, nobility, and spirituality.
