This Toughra signed manuscript is from the era of the Ottoman Kingdom. It dates back to the period of Sultan Abdul Aziz I, who remained in power for fifteen years until his ministers and other statesmen decided to disposed of him at the end of May 1876. He died four days later, some rumours said he committed suicide, others said he was killed. His reign was characterised by the state’s wealth and the many reforms that were carried out at his hands. Instrumental in these developments were Muhammad Amin Ali Pasha and Fuad Pasha, for which they gained fame in Ottoman history.
This document represents the conclusion of a sales contract between two prominent statesmen of that time. An important document of extraordinary beauty. Written by hand in black ink and decorated with multiple colours and gilding.
Period: 1287 AH (1879 AD), the decorations were added at a later date.
